Thirteen appears to be a lucky number for the 2019 Volkswagen Golf, as Car and Driver has named the popular VW model to the publication’s 10Best list of vehicles for the 13th year in a row. The entire Volkswagen Golf lineup impressed the editorial staff enough to make this year’s list, with no discernable favorite being named out of the Golf, e-Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, Golf Sportwagen, and Golf R. From top to bottom, the Golf family simply stands as one of the best all-around in the industry.
“We love all Golfs, and how could we not when the basic package is this good? The lineup’s broadening range of talents brings the basic car’s inherent talents into clear relief,” Car and Driver’s editors said of the VW Golf in their assessment of the vehicle.
The 2019 Volkswagen Golf lineup has a long list of options, trims, powertrains, and standard and available features to choose from, giving drivers of all needs, wants, and lifestyles the chance to spin this “basic” car in a way that suits their tastes.
In order to be considered as a candidate for Car and Driver’s 10Best list, a vehicle must be on sale by January 2019 and available for less than the price cap of $90,000. With such a wide pool to choose from, the fact that the Volkswagen Golf continues to capture the attention of experts on the panel year after year attests to its incredible staying power.
