At the top of the motorsports world is Formula 1 racing. Since 1993 Porsche has been participating in the Mobil 1 Supercup series. Recently, Porsche announced it was extending its contract with Formula 1 through 2022 and will be a part of the FIA Formula One World Championship™.
“We’re proud to forge ahead with the close and long-established partnership. Formula 1 offers an exclusive setting with a unique flair. This fascination and high media importance represent an ideal overall package for our racing series,” explains Fritz Enzinger, Vice President Porsche Motorsport.
With this contract extension, Porsche looks forward to celebrating its 30th anniversary with Formula 1 in 2022. Porsche will continue to participate in Formula 1 races with its drivers all competing in Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. All the cars are mechanically identically down the tires and the fuel.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup includes famous racing circuits like Monaco’s street circuit in Monte Carlo, the Belgian Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. The 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship runs from March through December. In the 10-month season, there are 21 races in 21 countries in five continents, contributing to it being the most popular motorsport in the world.
