With a pair of popular SUV models setting the pace, Porsche finished a successful 2019 by breaking its global sales record for a second year in a row.
For the year, Porsche delivered 280,800 vehicles — 10 percent more than it did in 2018. The German automaker’s sales growth was spread around the world, with increases achieved in big markets (China, Europe, and North America) and smaller ones, too (Africa and the Middle East).
The 2019 Porsche sales champion was the Macan SUV, with 99,944 units delivered for a 16 percent year-over-year increase.
The Cayenne SUV wasn’t far behind the bestselling Macan, selling 92,055 units and posting an increase of 29 percent over the previous year. The Cayenne is poised to succeed even more in 2020 thanks to its new Cayenne Coupe and plug-in hybrid models.
Between them, the Macan and Cayenne accounted for more than 68 percent of Porsche sales across the globe. Cars like the Porsche Panamera, Taycan, 718, and 911 made up the rest of the total.
