In its quest to further perfect EV technology, Porsche has increased the battery capacity of the new 2021 Cayenne E-Hybrid. The battery in each variant of the new vehicle will now be 17.9 kWh, a marked improvement of the 2020 model’s 14.1 kWh.
This development is made possible thanks to a recalibration of the battery’s charging strategy. As with all hybrids, the 2021 Cayenne E-Hybrid features both an electric and standard gas engine. The vehicle also features an E-Charge mode, during which the gas engine charges the battery. During this process, the targeted state of the battery’s charge is now reduced from a full 100 percent to a mere 80 percent, allowing the battery to charge faster and more efficiently.
In addition to a healthier battery, the new Cayenne E-Hybrid also features smarter ways to charge quickly and efficiently. With the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect system, you’ll be able to power up your vehicle on a set timer, at locations with cheaper rates, and with pre-defined charging limits. The optional Home Energy Manager analyzes your home energy supply and charges your Cayenne E-Hybrid without overloading or exceeding the limits of your power grid.
