Volkswagen Brings Back Iconic Microbus as ID. Buzz

Are you disappointed that you missed out on the groovy, free-spirited 1960s? Do you wish you could’ve taken a road trip with your friends to concerts across the U.S. in an iconic Volkswagen Bus?  Well, you’ll have your chance to experience the Swinging Sixties in the 21st century.

Volkswagen is resurrecting its beloved T1 Microbus as an all-electric vehicle for cargo and passenger transportation. The new ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will provide zero-emission, sustainable transportation for drivers of a new generation.

The ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo are Modular Electric Drive platform, the foundation of the automaker’s goal toward company-wide electrification in the coming decade. This stylish van seats five fun-loving passengers and is easy to configure with movable and removable components. And, it has easy-to-open windows to provide the open-air feeling that the original bus did.

However, unlike the original T1 Microbus, the VW ID. Buzz runs on pure electricity. Its 82-kWh battery keeps your crew rolling along for hours. Volkswagen knows that fans of its classic bus care about keeping the Earth green!

The Volkswagen microbus returns in Europe first and will eventually become available in the U.S. for drivers here in Memphis, Tennessee. For now, check out the rest of the electric Volkswagen lineup at Gossett Volkswagen Porsche, like the ID.4.
